Oh i do love winning!

I entered a competition with New York Colour (NYC) the makeup range on twitter telling them about my summer plans. However, the majority of my summer had already passed, so i told them what i had already done!

Its safe to say i squeeled a little bit when i found out i had won, i love their brand, their wide range of nail polish which is easy on the budget is a staple of mine. I also love anything i get for free, so to find out i was winning a NYC goodie bundle was exciting. About two weeks later when i returned to uni, i was welcomed with a little pink package waiting for me. I had also sent of for two 'free sample' of 'Cetaphil', a sensitive skin moisuriser and shower gel to try, and expecting small sachets, when these two lumps turned up i was very happy. Full sized!

The NYC pack included a light blue nail polish which i used for this french tipped manicure, with a leopard print accent nail almost straight away. Application of NYC nail polishes is perfect, the only criticism is that the brush is a little narrow/stiff, so when trying to paint a solid base colour with it, it takes a little longer than normal, however it gives you better control for french manicures!

The next item i tried was the 'Applicious Glossy Lip Balm'. The packaging is nice, but i find it slightly chunky compared to my normal lipbalms. The small lighter pink apple shape down the center was eyecatching, and its lightweight, so easy to keep in your purse on a night out. I got sent the colour #354 'Apple Blossom'.

Now im not one for wearing bright lipsticks or gloopy glosses, ill stick with my plain (ish) caramel nivia lip balm , thank-you-very-much, however, after opening this little twist tube and taking one sniff i was in love. The succulent sweet apple smell is lovely, and after applying it to my lips, they felt smooth and shiny. The very subtle hint of pink wasn't overpowering, and it was definitely a day wear type lip balm.

(weird camera lighting making me look both rosy and slightly blue at the same time... sorry guys!)

Would i buy it again?
After a quite a few uses over the past month, both on its own and over my matt pink lipstick for a more shimmery finish, i've decided i quite like this lipbalm, as its alot more wearable than other lip products designed to make your lips glossy.
It retails for £2.49, which is good for the amount of product you get with it. There are three other shades in UK stores that you can choose from too for different coloured tints!
